Bellanet

Mission

The Bellanet International Secretariat is a multi-donor initiative created with the mission to promote and facilitate effective collaboration within the international development community, especially through the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) from its four offices in Ottawa, San José (Costa Rica), Kathmandu and Kampala.

Program Overview

Since its creation in 1995, Bellanet has built an enviable record helping international development organizations communicate and collaborate, with innovative and effective technologies to assist the process. Bellanet was created to respond to the need expressed by many organizations to work more closely with each other and with other stakeholders in order to increase the effectiveness of their efforts.

Bellanet's early years ran parallel with the expansion of the Internet as a global communication medium, and Bellanet's learning curve has kept pace with technology advances including the proliferation of collaborative technologies and platforms. Realizing very early the implications of the "digital divide," Bellanet has made it a priority to find practical ways to enable people in the South with limited Internet and web access to collaborate online with others in their field and to engage in global development dialogues.

iVolunteer India

iVolunteer is a volunteering exchange, a platform that connects volunteers with volunteering opportunities in India and abroad

Volunteerism to us means contributing back to the society in term of giving time and sharing skills with those who are in need. Click here to read about our definition of volunteering.

Cyber-volunteering at iVolunteer

iVolunteer strives to create a volunteering movement where Indian's take charge of India's destiny and proudly build a stronger, vibrant and developed India.

Is it possible? - In a country where 40% of the 1 billion masses cannot read and write or where the sweet gains of the technology are yet to reach the hinterlands or where the big cities are bursting at seams, millions to still get basic health facilities and access to clean drinking water - the problems are many and we can go on and on and on. The question is what can we do- should we individuals just wait for the government action or should we take charge and make a difference?

The green revolution made India self sufficient in terms of food grains, while the white revolution made us a milk surplus country; the information technology revolution made us the IT superpower. Can a volunteering revolution involve all the Indians in nation building? The answer is Yes they can- let all Indians join hands and make India truly great... we have lot of work to do- we have very little time.
